Hussain Aga Khan: Focused on Nature
Marine conservation through photography

September 30th 2023 - March 16th 2024

It is such a delight and privilege to be able to show my images and share Focused On Nature’s mission
Here at the Age of Union Centre.

I’m endlessly grateful to Dax for hosting Focused On Nature and the exhibition – and would like to thank everybody on
The Age Of Union team who has assisted.
Along with the FON team and our designers, Tau Diseno.

My associates and I are so impressed with Age of Union’s work, commitment, determination – and also knowledge about their projects and partners on the ground.

We have many interests in common, both thematic and geographic.

This exhibition’s contents represent many expeditions and years of photography.
It includes FON’s main target species and groups – cetaceans, sharks, sea turtles and mobulid rays – as well
As an overarching theme surrounding climate change and its effects on oceans.

Focused On Nature is also very much into helping establish and/or support Marine Protected
Areas via our partners such as Mission Blue and the Shark Conservation Fund.

One section of this show which is very recent and a personal favorite consists of photographs taken in Indonesia, a country of interest to both Age of Union and FON.

Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and, more generally, the Coral Triangle are THE biodiversity hotspots of the world when it comes to marine life.
At Misool Resort alone they have counted 2200 species of fish and over 600 species of coral.

But Indonesian waters are suffering from climate-induced coral bleaching and plastic pollution like everywhere else. And have witnessed a serious shark finning problem as well.

In closing I would like to again thank Dax and the Age Of Union team for showcasing Focused On Nature’s photographic collection and express a strong interest on FON’s side of collaborating more in the future.

And of course I would politely ask all visitors to do their part in helping conserve our natural environment and using natural resources in a wise and sparing manner.

Thank you.
