About FON

Focused On Nature (FON) is a partner in global conservation and the protection of threatened and endangered ecosystems and species.

Established in 2014 by Hussain Aga Khan, FON supports conservation, advocacy, and research to protect species, safeguard biodiversity, and preserve habitats.

Rooted in Hussain’s photography and storytelling, our work raises awareness about the urgency of protecting fragile ecosystems and increasingly rare species. Through exhibitions, publications, public screenings, illustrated talks, and limited-edition print sales, Hussain’s images engage audiences worldwide—encouraging them to connect with nature, change consumption behaviours, and inspire others to take action.

We collaborate with both globally renowned and grassroots conservation organisations—as well as institutional partners—to support responsible stewardship of wildlife and ecosystems around the world. All projects are carefully vetted by FON’s expert advisors to ensure the highest conservation impact. We work closely with out partners to develop conservation education initiatives for children, youth, and adults.

Our grants are especially focused on the creation and preservation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and rainforest wildlife corridors, as well as the conservation of species such as sharks, cetaceans, mobulids, sea turtles, African elephants, rhinoceroses and great apes. To date, FON has invested over $4.5 million in projects spanning more than 30 countries, contributing to significant gains in species protection and habitat preservation.

FAQs

How many Photographic Expeditions has FON undertaken?

Nature is in crisis. To protect endangered species and conserve global wildlife, we must prioritize conservation projects and sustainable practices. By working together, we can restore damaged ecosystems and ensure a healthy planet for all. Let’s embrace the beauty of nature and commit to safeguarding it for future generations.

Which Projects and Foundations does FON support?

Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth, from the smallest microbe to the largest mammal. It plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, which provide us with essential services like clean air, water, and food. Conserving biodiversity helps to mitigate climate change, protect endangered species, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our planet.

How can I actively support conservation Projects and Foundations?

The biggest challenge in preserving biodiversity is the lack of global commitment and action. To protect the beauty of nature and wildlife, we need to prioritize conservation programs, invest in sustainable practices, and address the root causes of environmental degradation. By working together, we can mitigate the impacts of climate change, safeguard ecosystems, and ensure a thriving planet for future generations.
