What is FON?
Focused on Nature (FON) is partner in global conservation and the protection of threatened and endangered ecosystems and species.
Focused On Nature (FON) is a partner in global conservation and the protection of threatened and endangered ecosystems and species. Established in 2014 by Prince Hussain Aga Khan, FON supports conservation, advocacy, and research to protect species, safeguard biodiversity, and preserve habitats.
Rooted in Prince Hussain’s photography and storytelling, FON develops conservation education initiatives for children, youth, and adults, raising awareness about the urgency of protecting fragile ecosystems and increasingly rare species. Through exhibitions, publications, public screenings, illustrated talks, and limited-edition print sales, his images engage audiences worldwide—encouraging them to connect with nature, change consumption behaviours, and inspire others to take action.
FON collaborates with both globally renowned and grassroots conservation organisations and institutional partners to support responsible stewardship of wildlife and ecosystems around the world. All projects and grants are carefully vetted by FON’s expert advisors to ensure the highest conservation impact.
Grants are focused on funding on preserving biodiversity through the creation and expansion of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and rainforest wildlife corridors, as well as the conservation of species such as sharks, cetaceans, mobulids, sea turtles, African elephants, rhinoceroses, and great apes. To date, FON has invested over $4.5 million in projects spanning more than 30 countries, contributing to significant gains in species protection and habitat preservation.

Our Mission
Focused On Nature (FON) connects people to global conservation through the powerful lens of photography, storytelling, and education. Through Prince Hussain Aga Khan’s passion for capturing moments with wildlife, we serve as an aperture for conservation efforts around the world, pulling endangered and threatened species and their habitats into focus, and drawing on an extensive archive built over nearly three decades of marine and terrestrial expeditions. These photographs capture some of his most enthralling and unexpected encounters with wildlife, engaging audiences worldwide to ignite awareness, inspire meaningful action, and support education initiatives around responsible stewardship of wildlife and wild spaces. Our work channels global attention into tangible outcomes—protecting species, safeguarding fragile ecosystems, and driving urgent efforts to secure biodiversity for generations to come. Stay focused.

Our Story
Focused on Nature (FON) was founded in 2014 by Hussain Aga Khan, whose passion for wildlife photography began in the mid-1990s during his early expeditions to tropical rainforests and coral reefs. What started as a personal journey to document the beauty and fragility of wildlife evolved into a platform for global conservation impact. Over three decades, Hussain has built an extraordinary photographic archive—millions of images that create the foundation of FON’s visual storytelling and strategic philanthropy.
Today, FON leverages this visual legacy to inspire awareness, advocacy, and action. Through international exhibitions, publications, educational programs, partnerships, speeches, and fireside chats with leading conservation organizations, FON channels gifts to protect vulnerable species and habitats across more than 30 countries. With over $4.5 million invested across 32 countries, FON aims to spark curiosity, deepen ecological awareness, and help drive solutions to the biodiversity crisis.

Our Vision
Put simply, FON’s goal is to save the world—we envision a future where the natural world is not only admired—but actively protected. Where ethical, visual storytelling sparks empathy, and empathy drives action. Focused on Nature seeks to foster a global culture of conservation—one in which wildlife and wild places are valued, protected, and allowed to flourish for generations to come.
