Lucas Bustamante

Co-founder at Savia Fund and Tropical Herping

Lucas Bustamante has been bitten by countless snakes, dived along with sharks, and learned from Amazonian Indigenous tribes. He is a passionate Ecuadorian biologist and wildlife photojournalist whose primary goal is to use photography to promote environmental and cultural conservation. Lucas is a co-founder of Savia Fund and Tropical Herping, an environmental conservation non-profit and a nature-based tourism company. Also, he is an Associate Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP) and a contributing photographer for National Geographic Magazine. Lucas manages research and photography projects in different countries throughout South America, Africa, and Asia. He is the author of several books, including Reptiles of Ecuador, and has described 13 new species for science. Lucas spends his time diving and playing soccer with his friends when taking a break from work.
