Summary of org’s work

The Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) is the oldest and largest science and conservation organization in the Galapagos, founded in 1959 to protect the islands’ unique biodiversity. Working in close partnership with the Galapagos National Park Directorate and under the auspices of UNESCO and IUCN, CDF provides critical scientific research, technical expertise, and capacity-building to guide conservation efforts. Backed by a long-standing agreement with the Ecuadorian government, CDF plays a central role in the sustainable protection and development of the Galapagos Islands and its local communities.

Location of work

The Charles Darwin Foundation conducts scientific research and conservation efforts in the Galapagos. Their work spans marine research in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, land conservation focused on restoring ecosystems and controlling invasive species, and community engagement that highlights the vital connection between people and nature in preserving the archipelago.
