Fins Attached takes a comprehensive approach to shark conservation, combining cutting-edge scientific research with policy advocacy, education, and direct action. Their work includes studying shark behavior, habitats, and migration to inform conservation strategies; pushing for stronger protections like marine protected areas and bans on shark fin trade; and raising public awareness through outreach and education. Fins Attached also promotes sustainable fisheries management and works closely with governments, communities, and partners to enforce regulations and protect critical marine ecosystems.

Location of work

Fins Attached conducts year-round shark research expeditions in key locations such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, and the Maldives, focusing on tagging and monitoring species like white sharks, hammerheads, and whale sharks. These expeditions not only advance scientific understanding and conservation efforts but also (occassionally) invite donor participation, offering hands-on experiences that transform public perceptions of sharks and demonstrate the direct impact of their support on marine conservation.
