The Manta Trust is a UK-based charity that coordinates global efforts to research and protect manta and devil rays. Founded in 2011, it unites a network of 29 affiliate projects worldwide, offering support in funding, outreach, and collaboration. Using a multidisciplinary approach—research, education, and collaboration—the Manta Trust conducts scientific studies to inform marine policy, uses manta rays as flagship species to promote ocean conservation, and works with governments, communities, and NGOs to drive collective action for mobulid ray protection.
Location of work
The Manta Trust operates a global network of projects across more than 20 countries, with active research and conservation efforts in regions including the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa, the Indian Ocean, South and Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, Australasia, and Europe. This worldwide reach enables the organization to coordinate region-specific work while sharing knowledge across its network to protect manta and devil rays on a global scale.
